Achieving a “single-motor high-pressure ratio” in maglev centrifugal compressors is a universally recognized technical barrier in the HVAC sector. Conventional single-stage units rarely exceed a pressure ratio of 3.6, and mainstream two-stage heat pumps are strictly limited to the 4 to 5 range.
To support air-source heat pumps requiring dual modes—7°C chilled water in summer and 45°C hot water in winter—compressors must withstand extreme temperature spans. Under such high-pressure ratio and high-load conditions, risks like airflow separation, surge, massive axial forces, and rotor vibration directly threaten the stability of magnetic levitation. Simply increasing speed or adding stages leads to bulky equipment and a sharp decline in efficiency. Consequently, a pressure ratio above 6 has long been a “forbidden zone” in the industry.
